I first came across the name Angel Meadow when I read a history tour guide for Manchester. The name sounds so peaceful and beautiful, but its history was anything but bloomy. In the wake of the Industrial Revolution, Angel Meadow developed from a beautiful, grassy plain to an overcrowded, filthy slum infested with violence, crime and disease.  

To grow up in an environment like that, stuck in an endless loop of harsh labour, ruthless brutality and restless sleep - that is the story of Luke and Ivy.
